about

A first-class honours graduate in jazz from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music, Jay was a scholarship student who excelled in his studies, particularly highlighted by his distinguished dissertation on the harmony of George Russell, Lennie Tristano, and Dr. Barry Harris. Jay's proficiency in the Barry Harris system is notable, and he has also immersed himself in the study of Schoenberg's harmony, which significantly influences his approach to music.

What sets Jay apart is his profound interest in the interplay between sound and human emotion, a theme that is central to his musical choices and creative process. Having explored various harmonic systems, Jay is dedicated to further cultivating and exploring his emotional connection to the sounds within these frameworks.

In terms of performance, Jay has an impressive track record. He has collaborated with artists like Cleo Sol, Little Simz, Sam Ryder, Olivia Dean, Unknown T, Chronixx, Tom Rosenthal, and others. His versatility and distinctive sound have led to major performances at venues like Wembley Arena and events such as Eurovision, along with appearances on shows like COLORS, The Graham Norton Show, and Mahogany. Through these platforms, his talent has reached millions worldwide.
